It’s the end of the school year in Bulgaria, sort of. The moth of May is crazy because there is a tired dismissal for all the students. 12th grade finished on the 12th of May while the rest of my students don’t finish until the 30th of June, but because of tests and other holidays and events there is a lot of time where there just isn’t school, and because I don’t teach 12th grade, I have nothing to do. I am working with Mrs L back in Coldwater to try to keep our pen pal program going over the summer by creating a Facebook group. I hope it works out. I went last weekend to visit Dan in the nearby village and had my first real Peace Corps day in a while. He made ribs, awesome, then we played frisbee and soccer with his students, oh and we watched Thor at his place. Honestly I have been so, as Lucy would say, floopy since April. I have been on an emotional and stress rollercoaster and I think, I hope, no I pray that I am hitting the slope of that rollercoaster. I hit my one year anniversary in Bulgaria on the 12th and I can’t believe how much I have actually done, and how far things really have gone. I have noticed that the classes that I teach the students are able to express themselves so much better than at the beginning of the year, while writing. It’s not as much as I want, but I defiantly see an improvement. That should be considered a victory right? So I am looking forward to the Ball that I get to go to with the other teachers, starting my school’s baseball team, and summer vacation.
