As We Round out the End of May Part 2

This was my first repeat month in Bulgaria.  Now what do I mean by repeat month.  I mean this is the first month that I have spent time in Bulgaria twice.  I arrived in Bulgaria May 12,2010.  Over a year I have been away from my family and friends and  I can’t believe how much I have been through emotionally, spiritually and physically since I have joined the Peace Corps.  I know many of you have been following my story on this blog so I don’t need to, and at some points don’t want to, repeat the details.  But it’s hard to believe what I have done.  My friend Nick and I were talking and he was telling me how amazing I am for doing this, and I ask “doing what?” and he responds with, and I am paraphrasing Nick if you are actually reading this, being able to go across the world and travel and to be away from your family and friends.  For a while now I haven’t seen that as amazing at all.  Honestly I have gone through so many emotions from happiness, ecstasy, excitement, resentment, homesickness, loneliness, and a want to retreat into my own little world.  I guess I haven’t seen what I am doing as amazing for a very long time.  Thanks Nick for reminding me of that.

So anyhow the end of the month.  Bulgaria is just chopped full of holidays and events, and tests and other things like that so I have had A LOT of time off of school.  Let me repeat A LOT OF TIME OFF OF SCHOOL. So I had to go into Sofia last weekend for my yearly medical appointment.  Sort of a 3,000 mile tune up :) and of corse to see Lisa.    Dr’s appointment went fine although Dr T is having my blood tested for hypothyroidism.  My mom has it and it’s hereditary so yeah it’s a possibility.  I had Dominos while I was there пеперони класик and it was so so good.  I was very pleased and the pepperoni was just like in America.  Then Lisa and I had our girls night and I met up with Deanna, Priscilla and her family for a short tour around Sofia.  Saw some fountains and found a Spanish art installation in a Turkish bath.  Didn’t know it was there and was beautiful art.  They bought us all sushi, if I see them all again I will defiantly be taking them to Orange in Chicago.  Hope it still exists when i get back.  Then I went home and did laundry.  I twisted my ankle really hard last night walking to the ATM, I hope it’s not broken.  I hope I hope I hope.  Anyhow, on to June and more adventures.
